Podcast project parts:

2. Content to be Learned:
In this lesson you will summarize what you have learned over the year by creating a podcast of significant events of American History. You should start by examining details of events for your podcast events by using the information in the textbook. Next, you need to design and script out a story board using the the event cards provided.

The podcast must be your own interpretation of at least seven events listed below using Windows Movie Maker.

Transcontinental Railroad
Trail of Tears
Jim Crow Laws
The Women’s Right Movement
The Declaration of Independence
Revolutionary War
Civil War
War of 1812
Louisiana Purchase
Constitution and the Bill of Rights
Industrial Revolution
Mexican American War
The Fourteenth Amendment

You must also answer the following questions in your podcast?

Which event is the most significant to American History?
How has this event shaped out nation? How would our nation be different if this event would have never happened?

3. Interactive Learning Activity: You will be working in groups of three to create a podcast. Only STL or students who have permission from the technology teacher Mrs. Mercer will be able to record. Students needing additional time may contact Mrs. Mercer about working in the technology lab.

4. You are expected to write out your story board and get my signature prior to recording any video. You will be collaborating with Mrs. Mercer and the student technology leaders to complete this assignment. To organize your information click here to download the assignment. Podcast Requirements:


1. Fade in and fade out music jingle at the beginning and end or very faded behind the audio.
2. Title, Introduction of Group Members
3. At least seven historical events
4. Closure & Credits
5. 5 Quality Images related to the message.
6. 7 Transitions
7. Approx. 3 minutes long



Podcasts Style Options:
1. Series
2. News
3. Commercials
4. Interview


Podcasting Ethics:
1. School Appropraite
2. No slander or inappropriate language
3. No copyrighted material used
You can not read something someone else has written without permission.
Fair use includes only a small portion and quotes and citations must be included.
4. Needs to be audience appropriate
5. Personal safety and security considered, some information needs to be kept confidential such as vacations, address, images of your children, children’s school.
